THE CHALLENGE
SPAR was threatened by depopulation and big supermarkets opening in the local areas.
THE SOLUTION
To fight this trend, we closed down all 121 SPAR stores across Denmark, and replaced the storefront logos with the names of the local grocers. So, people could go shopping at Thomas, Peter, Lars or Ellen. Reminding people that SPAR is the local store in their hometown.
THE RESULTS
68% reach through PR creating earned media worth 13 million DKK.
In Denmark SPAR is the local supermarket. With a local grocer, who is part of the local community.
This is the story about a local shop that respects local values and gives back to the local community. We helped SPAR find the story ‘One of the locals’ and launch it with a surprising Name Change. And has since helped them tell their story regularly with campaigns and activations.
5 years of growth
Today, SPAR has claimed the local position in Denmark. Continuously growing since they launched the creative platform ‘One of the locals’ in 2016.
